You Have The Power To Do What's Right

There are numerous ethical and logical reasons why you should cancel class on Friday. For one thing, it would allow us to get a head start on a drive that for most of us is three plus hours. Due to getting home earlier, we would be able to spend more time with our families and loved ones who we may not get to see very often due to the long distance. I’m sure you have family and love ones that you would like to see and spend time with as well. It would also be safer to cancel class Friday because It would allow us to get leave in the middle of the day or earlier when our awareness is at its peak instead of in the afternoon when that “2:30 feeling” hits us.
What would we accomplish by going to class anyway? I’m sure everyone’s mind would be on their plans for fall break, so having us come and sit in a classroom for fifty minutes when we will barely pay attention is pointless. It is not something that we would do intentionally to be rude, but the anticipation for the long break would cause us to not be in the right state of mind. I’m sure you will be feeling the effects of the anticipation of fall break as well and they will cause you to not be very effective in teaching.
This week is also a very stressful one for many of us students due to midterms and such, so having one less class period to worry about would alleviate some of the stress that many of us are feeling. Many of the students have classes on Friday that have already been cancelled or your class is their only one on Fridays. Since that is the case it would demean the efforts of the other professors who have cancelled classes on Friday if you did not do the same. You may consider us to be sour patch kids but we have been in the sweet phase for a while now and it is only fair that our good behavior and attentiveness in class be rewarded with the cancellation of class. It only makes sense to cancel class on Friday from a ethical and logical standpoint.
