Online Piracy
Online piracy has become an issue ever since products such as songs and movies could be downloaded on the internet. In recent years the producers of music and movie have taken strides along with the government to enact reforms in an attempt to stymie piracy. So far all have been unsuccessful. There has been the S.O.P.A ac, which if it had been put in place would allow music companies to seek out websites harboring "pirated" music and movies and shut those websites down with out any justification. Fortunately the proposal was rejected. Property rights should certainly be upheld. But the bills that have been proposed would slow the mechanisms of the internet and impede on others rights. A more refined and less radical approach should be taken, one that only punishes those pirating music and not everything loosely tied to the pirated material.
