Visual Analysis of Data
In the Ted Talk about data in the world the speaker shows how the world is connected through all the data we keep track of. When the author showed all the planes that went across across the sky and what routes they took it shows how so many people overlap their lives in the same places and don't even know it because of the different times in which they are in the places. Also, when the speaker showed throughout the presentation how certain holidays increase the amount of data throughout the world a huge amount. when it was new years the amount of SMS' in the world skyrocketed to where the data more than doubles in almost every location. In New York city on Queens Day almost everybody gathered in the center of the city and this made the data in one area spike which i thought was pretty cool. Another important factor in the data of everything the speaker talked about is the time of day in which the data was being sent. If the time of day is around 3 PM or in the afternoon then usually everyone in America is awake and there is a lot more data being sent throughout the world. Also, when the author was talking about all his data and stuff he made sure to make that all the pictures were pretty to look at so that it would captivate the audience. I thought it was a great idea to do that because whem the audience is captivated with the picture then they don't mean to, but they learn a lot about the subject because they are actually interested in it. when i think back to watching the video the actual subject was kinda boring, but since the pictures were so interesting and colorful it just captivated my attention. In the end i think the speaker was smart with the way he presented his information to the audience and used visuals.
