The title "Visualizing Humanity" is an extremely fitting one, due to the fact that all of the interfaces that were shown quite literally visualize humanity. Whether it be the air traffic map that shows the daily movement of humans through the air and how they react with their environment, or the music video made up entirely of individually drawn frames, there will forever be humanity in technology. I find that this fact is quite comforting considering the over use of today's social media and the lack of heartfelt and through interactions between humans. As technology advances more, so does the way that humans interact and learn about one another. Aaron Koblin has obviously learned to harness the new functionalities of these interfaces and has made it just that much easier for humans to connect and experience things in a different way through the concepts of others.
Our humanity has obviously evolved greatly over the years; going from waiting for a letter in the mail in order to hear from a loved one, to being able to post on someones Facebook wall or send a text message and be instantly connected to someone. The world has evolved, and there will forever be a need for an advancement in human connection. The ability to see how others approach the same type of dilemma, such as the drawing of a sheep, or how others view a famous figure, like in the Johnny Cash music video, anonymously connects us to others in a way that is truly unable to be explained. Our humanity involves the direct connection to another individual, and the projects that Aaron worked on allow us to fully understand others.
These experiments exist to fully comprehend why people are so interested in the lives of others. It is our human nature to be curious and want to know about other, how they act and if they are similar to you or not. Experiencing others individuality exposes a deep emotional nature of that individual and with the accessibility to such information, others feel connected to that individual. There will forever be a need to learn about how others are individually, and with the advancements of today's technology, we are able to connect and socialize in so many new and different ways.
