Ad Astra per Aspera

        At first look, the tattoo is foreign in language but the symbol can be interpreted by people all over the globe. The picture is of a fourteenth century depiction of the world that uses precise measurements to calculate distances to certain places. This picture represents not only geologist or mapmakers, but people from all corners of the scientific and philosophical field by combining the Latin language with the picture of the Globe. The idea of Studying the Earth and other planetary bodies greatly contributed to the development of mankind by questioning the beliefs of the religious systems and allowing people to think freely. As people began to think for themselves, the Renaissance came about, which allowed for great works of art and advancements in the scientific fields. The words "Ad Astra per Aspera" literally means "To stars through work" which is translated to "A rough road leads to the stars". This symbolic meaning shows that through determination and hard work, one will eventually meet success and reach the stars.
