Humanity and the Interface

I found this video to be very inspiring. The idea of our generation being the interface age truly does make sense in regards to our modern society. ALthough these submissions that were seen in the video took place on the internet, the individualism between each different submission showed the human touch to the project. The specific projects seen in this video created glimpses of our humanity by showing how unique and different results can be seen when giving people the same assignment. It is important for projects like this to exist because these types of experiments reflect our modern societies' ideas and emotions in a unique and advanced way. Some artists were committed to the projects, and spent time and effort. Others quickly completed the assignments, to receive the small profit. This difference in effort is something that reflects the amount of effort that people in our society give, and how some people care about the money, not the quality. Some of the visuals received for the various projects were extremely well done, while others were stick figures and scribbles. Although some artists submitted artwork that was poor in quality, others submitted excellent artwork that made the videos or sheep look incredible. Even though the quality differed, I feel the videos made humanity look creative and intelligent. The work and ideas that are behind these projects shows how committed and intelligent our societies are today. The statement "An interface can be a powerful narrative device. And as we collect more and more personally and socially relevant data, we have an opportunity, and maybe even an obligation, to maintain [our] humanity and tell some amazing stories", is proved accurate through these projects and ideas that were shown in the video. Our society is using this interface to create an bank of stories and ideas about our society that will remain in the years to come. Unlike previous centuries, our data and ideas will be kept online and stored. This is a unique thing because after many years have pasted, the projects and ideas our century have created will still be available. This is a result of the interface being used to store our memories and ideas, like the ideas seen in the video. As many people contribute something small and relatively simply, the outcome is large and fantastic. Processes like these are how big changes are made in our society. Now with the use of the interface, our future projects will be allowed to be created and viewed in a new way. The use of the interface is something truly unique and incredible in comparison to the past ideas and methods.
